Randall and I went to check out a new restaurant called Tennessee Taco Company a couple of weekends ago. They focus on fresh street tacos that are fun and a little different than the kinds of street tacos you might be thinking.
We started out with Margaritas on the rocks and some cheese dip. I am regretting not trying their Crawfish/Chorizo Mac & Cheese as an appetizer. I'll definitely have to go back for that! The margaritas were ok but not very strong. Of course, the queso was yummy! For our main course, we decided to get a variety of tacos so we could try several different kinds. The menu has so many options it was very difficult to choose because we wanted to try all of the different taco combinations. They have the tacos grouped by the type of meat you want and they do have veggie options too. You can also pick between flour or corn tortillas. I wanted flour because that is my favorite, but street tacos are traditionally corn.
We ordered the following:
- Old No. 7- seared steak, jalapenos, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, queso, & chipotle ranch.
- Ring of Fire- chili rubbed shrimp, onions, peppers, lettuce, & salsa verde.
- Gus's Favorite- fried chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, & chipotle ranch.
- Tom Lee Pork- pulled pork, pickled onions, & avocado crema.
- Bonnaroo Breakfast-tater tots, melted cheddar cheese, avocado, & salsa.
Our favorites were the Tom Lee Pork, Gus's Favorite, & Old No. 7. These tacos were packed with so much flavor. I want to go back for the Tom Lee Pork taco it was so good! The Ring of Fire didn't really have the kick we were hoping for and the Bonnaroo Breakfast was fun and different but also a little weird to be eating tater tots in a taco.
Overall, it was a great experience! I liked the atmosphere and the cool mural on the inside! Sorry, food pictures are hard to take but hopefully you get the idea. They were beautifully presented and obviously big enough to split. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. We left so full!
We will be back to try some more of what they have to offer!
